Activism is everywhere. But it seems to work quite differently in many parts of the world. We are looking into the mechanisms of activism and the different causes that are worth the fight - depending on the part of the world where it is fought!
Prof. Dr. Astrid Franke studied English, Biology and Philosophy in Berlin and Edinburgh. She did her PhD on the function of stereotypes in literature in Berlin and her second book about Public Poetry in Frankfurt. Since 2008, she has been professor of American Studies in Tuebingen. Her research interests include Popular Culture, Cultural History and Theory, the Contemporary Novel, and, as an underlying thread, intersections of literature and sociology - such as the role of art in Social Movements.
